Remington Sportsman 74 Auto - $300.00: Mfg from 1984-87 and only in
30-06 with 22 in. barrel, 4 shot mag., uncheckered hardwood stock and
forearm, open sights, 7 1/2 lbs. It came drilled and tapped for a
scope mount. I bought it new and have fired no more than 40 rounds
in it, it has a nice bright bore.
I replaced the plain stock with a used 7400 stock, it is a bit rough as
you can see in the pictures but it still makes the gun look real good.
The original stock is included in this sale. It includes quick release
shoulder strap connections. The manual that came with it shows “Model
7400, FOUR, & Sportsman 74 Automatic center fire rifle”. Remington
mfg 1 version of the model 4, 1 version of the Sportsman 74, and 1
version of the 7400 (they mfg 14 versions of the 740). It is gas
operated and has last round bolt hold open. A crossbolt safety at
the rear of the trigger guard is easy to the fingertip. Rear open
sight has elevation and windage settings.
